Re: IL-10 losses

Attached also what it looks like an IL-2 of 995 ScHAP captured by the Hungarian Army
standing by probably the Hungarian pilot who brought the IL-2 down.

Re: IL-10 losses

Thank you very much! Sure, despite of the errors, OBD is still a great site for personnel info.

Алимкин Иван Николаевич гв.cт.л-т was lost in his IL-2, S/N: 1874488 (engine: 259498) with gunner Анисимов Михаил Васильевич гв.ряд onboard.
That time 17 VA, 10. GvShAD, 167. GvShAP lost three IL-2s: No.9867, 1871485 and 1874488. (Яковлев, Холин, Алимкин)

Cheers,

Gabor

Re: IL-10 losses

I think this photo shows a downed IL-2 on July 5, 1943, but this is not a 995 ShAP plane and somewhere I read this plane was downed by a German guy, but the plane crashed at the edge of a Hungarian airfield, - that's why the Hungarian guy beside it.

Re: IL-10 losses

Thanks for the feedback Gabor, if the year is 1943 then the shot is elsewhere but Hungaria,
by chance can you read his rank ?

Re: IL-10 losses

Thanks Robert, great info. Do you know the pilot names (eg. Gorodetski on April 30, 1945) to the proper plane serials, and if 1890492 was in fact 1890402, so just a typo? (Batch No.92 seems to be too high number, but IL-10 batch No.02 still would be OK...)

Thanks,

Gabor

Re: IL-10 losses

Gabor

I have few publications in Russian language
about IL-2 in WWII, I am almost sure no S/N's mentioned
which may enable to locate wrecks, though let me know
in any case what exactly you looking for .

Романов Виталий Иванович 95 GvScHAP ( do you any other info
on the acft other than OBD ) such as S/N or any details other than
OBD ?

was shot down 22.5.44 near Sarata

Re: IL-10 losses

Unfortunately not, for that unit and time period I have no AC records, only for the 5 and 17 VA losses between October, 1944 and May, 1945.

Re: IL-10 losses

That Hungarian pilot at the Il-2's tail is the youngest pilot of the Fw 189 equipped Hungarian 3/1. short range resonnaissance squadron. His rank is szakaszvezető (Unteroffizier). The aircraft was brought down by a German fighter, close to their base, Kharkov-Grobly (that 'somewhere' where this story appeared is my aces book, where I posted a different photo of the wreck with a different pilot). The photo was taken on the 5th of July, 1943 after the huge air battle over the city.

Re: IL-10 losses

Csaba

That becomes now more interesting....though I not get it 100% right , the above photo is also from
Belgorod /Kharkov Battle or is not related ? Can you post the whatever photo you may have
available with the wreck ? According my Russian sources the airfield is Kharkov Woitschenko airfield though
other sources indicated to me that may be Kharkov Rogan airfield.....secondly what Hungarian AF assets
where on that area in 1943 ?

Thanks in advance
