Re: LW pilot Gunther Stark
Thanks Norbert,
I know this shot down over Morfelden on 24 December 44 where he bailed out and was slightly injured but very little is known about his killing over Oppau on 14 Jan 1945 ! |

Does anyone know the cemetery in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, or do you know someone
who can collect information in the archives of this cemetery? Thank you. |

Re: LW pilot Gunther Stark
Perhaps it is better to let us know what kind of information you seek in stead of asking this general question about Oblt. Günther Stark.
Cheers, John. |

Re: LW pilot Gunther Stark
Thanks John!
As Gunther Stark has shot down on my farm in Italy April 28, 1944 an American plane P38 F recon (MACR 4195). I found a lot of info about the American pilot but almost nothing of the German pilot! I would like to know information about his career in Italy, his squadron and where he was stationed those days . In short, this German pilot with 10 victories no information: dates and place of birth, how he died, his military career, squadron, photographs, relatives, etc.. Anyone can help me I am grateful! thanks |

Re: LW pilot Gunther Stark
First of all, try to get a hold of the two volume Unit History of JG 4 written by Eric Mombeek. This will answer most if not all questions you have of Oblt. Stark's time with I.JG 4. Oblt. Günter Stark was born on 16. August 1923 in Eichdamm, Kreis Wohlau (Schlesien).
On 14. January 1945 he was shot down by Thunderbolts. According to my records he was buried at the Hauptfriedhof Ludwigshafen where he still rest at Block H, Reihe III, Grab 375. Cheers, John. Ps. buy the two volumes and you will know all. Last edited by John Manrho; 5th January 2014 at 19:07. Reason: typo's |
