eBay: Two Bf 109 G

http://www.ebay.de/itm/KLASSE-FOTO-K...item338981ca0b

G-6/R6/Trop JG 53?? in Italy considering the driver fatigue. Can be JG 3 too ...

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Orig-Foto-MES...item35d0886f6b

Not a Bf 109F as captioned by seller. Nothing more, but a new one, for sure... Looks like North Africa. Hmmm AGr. ???

Regards, Franck.

John Beaman is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: eBay: Two Bf 109 G

The first would seem to be JG 53. Many of their a/c from the period have that "homemade" spiral on the spinner (crude! alert to modelers!). I do not recall any JG 3 in that period having that. But, of course, I could be wrong!

Me too John, me too ....

Anyway, the JG 53 emblem is visible just under the branches. 1943 ...

Thanks John.

Re: eBay: Two Bf 109 G

Hey Franck,

Thanks for the links! I concur absolutely for the first pic except for the JG 53 emblem: nothing to be seen under the branches, alas..

As for the second, it's either a Bf 109 G-2 or G-4; looks very much to be found in North Africa, given the landscape and the background Baltimore ;-))

Cheers
Marc

I wrote G-6/R6/Trop, didn't I?

Can be Malta too, Marc ...
They got one down there from 2.(H)/14 but I don't know the number, over painted I think.

Re: eBay: Two Bf 109 G

Aha, interesting, Franck: in this case, it can be the same machine as this one:

An ex-Bf 109 G-2/Trop of 2.(H)/14 repainted by the members of No. 232 Wing SAAF Photo : Howard Levy, via Alfred Monzat, German airplanes from the second world war Group, Facebook.com, 8 January 2013.

Re: eBay: Two Bf 109 G

There were two Bf 109 G-2 in SAAF service at Gerbini, in the Summer and Autumn of 1943. Thanks to Alfred Monzat, over on Facebook.com, I now have the pics of those two machines which were published in the Fanatique de l'Aviation 468, giving us the location.

Cheers
Marc

Re: eBay: Two Bf 109 G

Hi Marc,

I know that one.
But no, the one I'm talking about was "Captured" on Malta island since he landed down there 1942-1943. Intact.
In 1945, it was still on Malta Island, intact. Kept german markings and emblem but I'm sure the camouflage has been re-done by English; one-of-a-kind!!!

Cheers, Franck.
