Seeking ID of another possibly British crash with fatality during the WC/FC.

Hello,

Another tough one. Mark Sheppard will probably recognize the tree line and give us an ID immediately.

Does any of this wreckage even suggest an a/c type?

I'd be tempted to go for a Hawker Hurricane, don't hold me to it, but it does look like photos I've seen of Hurricanes that have had a high speed encounter with the ground.

Hello,
Not sure if the photos shown at the bottom of the page are of the same wreckage but one does show part serial number "AD75(8)" ? which would be a H P Hampden, another does show the twin tail section.

Alex or anyone,

Thanx for the comments and poss Hampden SN. Does anyone know if that SN could have been lost before the end of 1940, or is it later? I don't want to be bidding on something that is outside the timeline for the EoE Project.

Regards,

Larry

Definitely not AD758 - lost December 41 on Jurby, IoM

Only others with AD75x lost in Europe

AD750 lost 4.2.41 La Gandiniere, Nantes
AD756 Lost 16.8.41 in Gembloux area

I cannot make out the s/n myself as images too small

Martin

Hi Larry

Nice tree line!

I think the group of photos show a Hurricane. First photo seems to show the remains of the timber frame/fabric, elevator and some triangular framing. The what heading is showing so May/June?

The other photos shows a Hampden AD750 just looking at the bare trees in the background - Feb 1941. AD756 was lost in August 1941.

Interesting if you want to look at weather. Seems April was quite wet.

Not sure if different for Northern France.

Good evening !

On my believe, all the photos show the same location. On all photos the grain yells for grain harvest. These photos must have been shot in August, but never in February.

Best wishes

Hi Horst,

We were referring to ones at the bottom from the same seller, not in the group.

'1941 bomber'

Sorry.
