Re: Uffz. Max Gehringer, a fighter pilot from Normandy
Hello Christian,
Like said Matthias, in the book of JB Frappé, you don't have the location of the crash but JB Frappé situated combat between Vire and Carentan. 3 others pilots of the JG 11 crashed this same day: UFFZ Helmut Ried (2/JG11), uffz Erich Kerntke and Uffz Heinz Schuch (1/JG11). Heinz Schuch was the only one alive. All the pilots were "MIA". But Uffz Max Gehringer is "dead" and not "MIA" because you can find him in this website: http://www.volksbund.de/graebersuche in the cemetery of Champigny St André. Nota: In the excellent book of JB Frappé, you have a witness of Heinz Schuch of this day. Fredo |
