Re: Two JG 7 "Green 2" lost in Fohrde/Föhrde forest on same day?

Hi.

I do not have the codes, but according to my records WNr 111591 was from I. Gruppe, and 111008 from III. Gruppe, it is not impossible that both aircraft had the same code.

Not being an expert on JG 7, I am not totally sure how they used the colours in the unit, but it could imply that the aircraft were from the Stab flight of the Gruppen.

Others will most certainly come up with further information.

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Two JG 7 "Green 2" lost in Fohrde/Föhrde forest on same day?

Hi Guys,

Yes but, that's not the same place at all!!!!.

One - Föhrde(North of Hamburg) - is in Kaltenkirchen close range (Stab I.Gr.)
The second - Fohrde-Brandenburg - NNE of Berlin in Briest close range (Stab III.Gr.)

It was a quick checking, so you're free to comment if you do not agree.

Hence Andreas can be right.... And same code number seems to be a mere coincidence ... for different units.

Regards, Franck.

Re: Two JG 7 "Green 2" lost in Fohrde/Föhrde forest on same day?

If the location north of Hamburg is correct, this would be Föhrden northwest of Rendsburg. Too many coincidences for my liking. The two losses may be correct, the two different Gruppen of JG 7 may be correct, but somehow two different interpretations of Fohrde/Föhrden obviously mixed up the two loss reports. Does somebody have access to copies of the original loss reports?

Regards

Roland

Yes, I have copies - these are the database entries which show them exactly as they appear in the GenQu listings:

http://www.aviationhistory.no/ref_db...?lossid=101905

http://www.aviationhistory.no/ref_db...?lossid=101907

I will recheck the originals tomorrow to ensure I have not made any transcription errors.

Andreas B

Re: Two JG 7 "Green 2" lost in Fohrde/Föhrde forest on same day?

Manfred Boehme's JG 7 p102 :
Clausen got trouble on a test flight, coming back trailing flames from both engines, he was lost on final at Brandeburg-Briest :
"At an altitude of about 150 meters the left wing separated and the aircraft spun down in flames. Clausen was killed in the crash"
The other loss for the day is the Me 262 of Georg-Peter Eder (Staka 9.JG 7) south of Bremen (4-mot defensive fire).
Strangely in Appendix A JG 7 pilots whe have :
Eden (sic), Georg-Peter Major wounded 16.2.45
Klausen (re-sic), Hans Ofw. † 17.2.45

Re: Two JG 7 "Green 2" lost in Fohrde/Föhrde forest on same day?

Hi.

As far as I can see, the following must be the loss linked to Eder:

http://www.aviationhistory.no/ref_db...?lossid=101908

In total three losses for JG 7, one for I. Gruppe and two for III. Gruppe.

Re: Two JG 7 "Green 2" lost in Fohrde/Föhrde forest on same day?

Found this when googling for : Clausen 111008
www.fotografie-hundt.de/_me262-db-muster.xlsx
and in google books :
The Me 262 Stormbird: From the Pilots Who Flew, Fought, and Survived It
Colin D. Heaton
p284 for the losses on 17 FEB 1945.
p282 for the loss of Georg-Peter Eder on 22 JAN 1945. Seems that the narrative in Manfred Boehme's JG 7 is mis-dated.
