Thank you very much for all the info. I have one more question. On 11th November 1944 Corsairs of VMF-114, stationed at Peleliu, reported sinking a “Wakataki class destroyer” moored at Ngargol Island. Maj. Jack Conger (a double ace) scored a direct hit with 1000 lb. bomb. The squadron diary says: “Two fires, a big explosion and flying debris which filled up most of the narrow channel to the north between Kobasang Harbor and Station Harbor, spelled the end of that ill-fated ship.” Any chance to identify that ship?
