Re: Bomber loss over Molde April 29/30th 1940
Hi.
I have one loss recorded that might fit Your description. It is recorded as 3. K.Gr.126, a clerical error for 3./K.G.26 I believe. There were 1 aircraft recorded as total loss and a crew of four, including two officers, posted as missing. I haven't really studied Weserübung and the very early days that much and others might have more information. Regards, Andreas |

Re: Bomber loss over Molde April 29/30th 1940
Hi RT,
Many thanks for confirming that it was a 3.Kgr.126 a He111h-4, 4 missing - much appreciated. Oddly enough, I now have the identity of the Royal Marine gunner that shot the 111 down. He disobeyed an order from Captain Pegram - HMS Glasgow - not to shoot. Pegram did not want attention drawn to the ship as it was then embarking the Royal Norwegian party, various dignatries and gold bullion. Thanks again to RT, Jim and Andreas who have provided information and guidance. 'Flegdling Eagles' has now been ordered. Cheers, Bob |
