Sanitätsschule der Luftwaffe

Hi,

I would like to ask if anyone has a copy of the publication 'Luftwaffe at War' by Waldemar Trojca and Karlheinz Münch (ISBN: 978-83-60041-27-7)?

I ask, as there is an image at the top of page 97 showing a Ju87A of the above-named unit. The image shows the aircraft from the right side, but only the first part of the unit code can be seen, between the tailplane and the national marking. To my eye, the visible portion would appear to read either 'L2V+' or possibly 'LZV+'.

I find this presentation unusual in that it appears to show three characters to the left side of the national marking. Was the unit's coding in some way anomolous? Was this presentation commonplace on the unit's aircraft? Or indeed, is it perhaps a vestige of a previous code?
If anyone is able to enlighten me, I would be grateful.

Also, I am only aware of images showing the Ju87A with the unit insignia of a snake entwined round a staff or rod, with stylised wings near the top of the insignia and a swastika on a white disc centred between them. I find the Ju87A an unusual choice of aircraft to use in this type of unit but imagine other types may have been used as well. Would anyone have such images they would be willing to share, especially if they carry the unit insignia?

Regards,

Paul

Re: Sanitätsschule der Luftwaffe

All I have Paul. I never purchased the book you mentioned perhaps I should have but I thought it too expensive as all the Trojca books are.

Having been a member of this forum for longer than yourself I can I think call this 'my' forum too.

Paul, I hope the images prove useful despite the uncalled for and unnecessary interjections.

Hmmm..........
I am wondering if this is supposed to be the Ärztliche Akademie d.Lw. in Berlin, Sanitätsschule 1 d.Lw. (Zlin/Böhmen), Sanitätsschule 2 d.Lw. (Wien-Baden) or Sanitätsschule 3 d.Lw. (Arras/Frankreich)?

Re: Sanitätsschule der Luftwaffe

Hi,

Chris...
Thanks for these. Some I have seen before, but not the He111P. The last one with the crew member made me smile... possibly checking someone's x-ray on his laptop?

Larry...
Thanks for your input with the possible units - I was unaware of a unit designated Ärtzliche Akademie der Luftwaffe, or indeed that there were three Sanitätsschulen.

You kindly allowed me a copy of a chart you'd drawn up some years back now, and still much in use, of the then known prewar codes. My 'guestimate' of the partial code is not listed on the chart. Perhaps you did not have any information to hand when I received the chart from you. Is there any additional information you may now have regarding the codes, and whether or not these units' aircraft were coded differently to others? I would be interested to know, if you have time to go digging for me. I have no additional information myself, sadly.

Anyway, my regards to you both for your input. Much appreciated, as ever ;-)

Paul
