Just to add another note, the pilot is also identified as Uffz Mang from III.JG-53 in the publication "Luftwaffe: Air War Over the Czech Lands" by Jiri Rajlich (WWP Prague 2000). From the list above, that would be Uffz Paul Mang, 9./JG-53
Quote from publication: "Das is meine arbeit-...he should be Uffz Mang from III/JG-53...and these words were allegedly said at the wreckage of of the B-17G 42-32048 called "Mary" from the 20th BS." |
