Life before RLM camouflage colours
As far as I know, the RLM camouflage colours became official when L.Dv. 521/1 decree was issued in 1938. What colour coding was used before that date? Were there any other camouflage colours applied than the 'classic' shades identified immediately after 1938 as RLM 61/62/63/65, or 70/71/65?
On a related issue, I read a statement by Merrick that the Ju 86 was the first German warplane to be finished in the factory in camouflage colours. The photo of the V1 I saw shows it in bare metal finish. Perhaps the V3 (D-ALAL, the second prototype developed for bomber duty, maiden flight on 16 June 1935) was finished at Dessau Plant in camouflage livery? Thanks, as usual, for your comments.
