Allen,
Check with the Public Archives of Canada (or whatever they are called now) for a copy of his service record. Since you can document that he is deceased, you should be able to get the entire file. But it should be noted that it will only cover the information supplied at enlistment, and then his service (training, etc) while in Canada. Once he leaves Canada they lose track of him.
