Re: JG 301 A-8 "Yellow 8" at Salzwedel

Bonjour,
I hope it will work.
Note :
- low contrast upper wing camouflage
- no outer canon bulge on the top of the wing.

Regards
Rémi

Re: JG 301 A-8 "Yellow 8" at Salzwedel

Rémi,

Sir, thank you for posting your new-to-me photo of this most-colorful aircraft.

At the risk of stirring a hornet's nest, in my files this aircraft is listed as: Fw190A-9 (490041) 8+ — yellow ("—" = white x 900mm) of JG301 abandoned at Fl.Horst Salzwedel.

If correct, this would make it a sister ship to the often-photographed Fw190A-9 (490044) 22+ — red ("—" = red o/l white x 900mm) abandoned at Fl.Horst Langensalza.

Thank you!

Definitely seems like 81/82 on wings, as in fuselage.

The differences for these aircraft possibly made so close to each are quite radical.

Biggest point of interest is mottling pattern. "Red 22" is covered along the fuselage and tail fin in cloudy pillows, while "Yellow 8" only has soft branches on it's tail.

Similarities are landing gear covers mottled over attachment bolts and possibly swastika placement and size, but I don't know enough about Antons to tell if this is a good identifier.

But maybe the ID-plate is a good indicator?
