Sorry for the long delay, but the raids on Moscow in July 1941 committed most of the Kampfgeschwader to the operation thus starving Army group center of air support from the bombers. The battle of Smolensk was almost entirely supported by ground attack aircraft alone.

Actually I have to correct myself here. The X and Y Gerat systems were NOT used in the attacks on Moscow. They were removed. The transmitting systems (The Rivers) remained in France. At best they used the Knickebein system.
