JG 1 Stabsschwarm

This might be interesting - the entire JG 1 Stabschwarm, 4 Nos. yellow-nosed Bf 109 F-2's (or perhaps even Bf 109 F-4) aircraft, Jever, possibly mid-to-late 1941. Note the later, scaled-down version of the Stab/JG 1 emblem beneath the windscreen. And the umbrella hanged onto the supercharger air intake of the nearest aircraft. Sadly, the individual Stab's markings are not visible.

Re: JG 1 Stabsschwarm

Sinisa, I believe the "umbrella" seen hanging on the cover to the supercharger air intake can be seen on the three closest Bf109Fs and are varning marking in the shape of a small pennant in order to remember to remove the covers before start.

Re: JG 1 Stabsschwarm

Göran, you are most likely right - an umbrella has no business there. The supercharger air intake on the two nearest aircraft is obviously covered - so that would be the function of the umbrella-looking device to warn the ground crew to remove the covers before the start. The original input should have been written something like "an apparent umbrella"... Thank you for the correction.

Sinisa

Clint,

Is this supposed to be funny? Because if it is, I do not think that anybody is amused. Please refrain from posting these kind of responses to my posts.

Re: JG 1 Stabsschwarm

I'd say the other aircraft have this conical? umbrella-like object too, judging from this photograph. I agree with Göran. Thanks for posting the original picture here, Sinisa..!
Greetings,
Piet

Re: JG 1 Stabsschwarm

Piet,

Thank you for the note.

To be quite honest, I would rather forget all about that conical, umbrella-like object . In the heat of the moment the mistakes are made, which is sometimes embarrassing, but it was all for the good cause - I found the photo quite unique because I have never come across a photo of the entire JG 1 Stabsschwarm, and that is why I wanted to bring it to the TOCH members attention.

Regards,
Sinisa
