Re: Lft.Kdo.6 - 3 Mai 45 - What do you read?
Well, I see Rasmussen was faster!
I agree with the Bavarian Wood, and "zuletzt" makes more sense, it just doesn't look like a "zu" to me... Anyway, you're probably right! Greetings Hans |

Re: Lft.Kdo.6 - 3 Mai 45 - What do you read?
I'm not sure that it's "zuletzt" or "geplatzt" because in the handwriting of the time a "z" usually descends below the line. Also, look at the descending "s" in "Restteile KG 51" in the line above.
On the other hand, you do have several typed "zuletzt" in other parts of the document, so it would be consistent. I did wonder (I certainly wouldn't swear to it!) if the word could be "gestartet" in which case the note is telling that the units in question are en route to Erding and the Bavarian Forest. Otherwise, it's back to the dictionary for alternatives |

What about "geplant" (planned)?

Re: Lft.Kdo.6 - 3 Mai 45 - What do you read?
To add a little to the confusion, attached is an ADI(k) copy of the same document. With this copy was also an OOB for Lfl 6 30.4.45.
Best Regards, Artie Bob |

Re: Lft.Kdo.6 - 3 Mai 45 - What do you read?
Here is what I read:
JG 2 im Protektorat geplatzt Verlegungsbefehl nach Erding lag vor Bodenpersonal in bayr. Wald geschickt The above entry regarding KG 51 reads: Restteile KG 51 The two entries are from two different persons. The one regarding KG 51 is in the Suterlin script. That is why the s is going below the line. Also some people, like my dad, used to mix the two scrips. Very hard to read at times. The second document must be of a later date since it talks about how many Aircraft left Eger and how many arrived in erding and that the ground personell was basically captured at Cham. Unknown is the whereabouts of the Kommodore after he left with his car to Erding. I can translate the whole thing if someone is interested. Hope this helps Norbert |

but "geplatzt" isn't an german equivalent for "disbanded" -- it's "aufgelöst". "burst" would an right word for "geplatzt" --- like an ballon but this doesn't make sense for an unit. Best wishes Rasmussen P.S.: If I read the document from Artie Bob then left the JG 2 the airfield in Eger and Marienbad (Protektorat ... now Cheb and Marianske Lazne) an was flown to Erding and from there to Holzkirchen and other airfields. The ground personal was "rolled over" (I don't know the correct Englisch word) on their trip from Eger to Erding near Cham. So the word "geplatzt" doesn't make sense. Re: Lft.Kdo.6 - 3 Mai 45 - What do you read?
Hi All,
the word geplatzt in this contens means more like did not materialize or failed to happen. It is not used in the dictionary sense like blown up. There are several dialekts in Germany and one can only imagine during times of frustration and stress, and for reasons of abbrevity, that some commanders fell for their native tongue and may have used words that are not quite to military standards. Also both documents appear in the telepraph style. Second document reads: JG 2 I + II 34 aircraft Eger + Marienbad Of those 24 took off for Erding 14 landed at Erding From there to Holzkirchen and other airfields II JG 2 ground units during march to Erding overcome by enemy near Cham Kdre Oberstltn. Bühligen left prior to transfer via car direction Erding. Whereabouts unknown. The commander of II/782 reports Kdre has not arrived in Erding Collection camp near Kufstein Reagrds, Norbert |

End of messages is not II/782, but II/JG 2.
