Re: Interesting images of a crashed FW-190. No date or location available

Thank you for posting these fine photos. Unless I am mistaken, this aircraft has the hallmarks of an Fw 190 G-8. Indicators include: 2xETC503 underwing racks; a right-wingtip-mounted pitot tube; and a bulged fuselage gun cover for 2xMG131 (13mm) weapons—weapons that were standard on the Fw 190 A-8—A-9 and Fw 190 F-8—F-9, but usually omitted in the G-8. Note too that its wooden VDM 9-12176A prop blades have shattered upon impact. Can anyone make out the Werknummer visible on its fin? If this is indeed an Fw 190 G-8, its Werknummer would probably be within the 190xxx series. Steve Sheflin |
