As far as I know both factories produced the La-5FN planes. Haven't checked the map, but Gorkiy factory was near Moscow, if not, please forgive me.

Anyway, Zavod 21 plane serial system was 39 for the La-5FN fighter, 21 is the factory number, 2 digits for the batch in which the plane was built and the last 2 digits of the serials were painted in white on the fuselage of the plane, like 14 - white '14'.

If this plane was built in Gorkiy, then her S/N would be '3921??14' for sure. Similar S/N structure method was 381??14 for Zavod 381. Thanks,
