Re: W/Cdr E.J.Carter DFC C.O. of 97 Squadron

Hi David

I don't know whether you're still looking out for answers on this post which I see was started about 8 years ago(!), and I have no idea whether this is your man, but in 1939/40 there was a F/O (became F/L) E J Carter serving with 214 Sqn and flying Wellingtons on 25 ops between 17/6 and 10/10/1940.

Possibly he could be the same, rising in rank from F/L in late 1940 to W/C at the start of 1944? Sounds a feasible time scale to me.

Maybe of interest?

Cheers

Ian
