Having trouble loading the clip / films, just keeps trying to load but never plays. Anyone having the same issue? Maybe just a traffic problem. I'll keep trying.

AKH has a YouTube channel under Karl Hoeffkes so I am able to see some of the great films. Thanks again. Vince... |

Re: Hartmann's "white 1" on film, interesting camouflage

Yellow 1. The "300th victory" White 1 is featured later in the video - also a G-6 but with the "short" tail

Artwork in "Wings of the Black Cross" No.7 misses the tall tail and shows a non-existent G-14 battery bump. Traces of original stencils show - wonder what the extensive over spray of (more than one) colors were ?? Greens - Browns ?? A real defensive scheme - more like 1945. A great find - thanks ! |

Many many thanks for your update; those are exceptionally crisp shots of seldom seen late war G-6's. Much appreciated Marc |

Also interesting the small number 2 in the number 1. May this means a second White 1 machine?

The Ju52/34 is also new to me. Is it possible a personal machine from Hugo Sperrle? Jg 53 film is also great plus some Ju 88 and gun camera action.

Re: Hartmann's "white 1" on film, interesting camouflage

			Hello,

When the art work was produced for Wings of the Black Cross all we had to work with were poor quality stills taken from a copy film. Some of the important details were lacking but we did the best we could with what we had at the time. We were told the film was private and would more than likely never be released so we had to go with what we had. Now that this excellent film has been released it certainly reveals some great details. Cheers, Jerry

Jerry - No criticism intended - I have everything you've published, and too many of your decals - just shows you how dynamic this part of history is !

Here's a screen grab with enhanced contrast: Attachment 13740 I "think" I see the Mtt camo pattern ( 74/75? ) underlying the overspray on the fuselage spine, but hey, only those with the secret B/W to color alchemy crack can tell for sure ! And another: Attachment 13741 |
