Re: Friction in 118 Squadron?
Freeborn took command of 118 Sqn on 16 Jun 43 and handed over to Heppell on his return from the ME 16 Jan 44. I have no mention of Heppell before that and the first mention I have of Giddings is an accident on 18 Jul 44. Both Shepherd and Newbery were quite successful-Shepherd's last claim being 2 Aug 43 and Newbery's 18 Jul 43. Giddings did not claim until 25 Sep 44. I am afraid I do not have any notes as to who were the Flt Cdrs or whether they were replaced
