SOE MISSION 10 OCT 41

On the night of 10 Oct 41 and under the code name Corsican, 4 agents from Section F SOE and 2 containers were parachuted into Lagudal near Beleymas which is north of Bergerac in SW France. Can anyone tell me the Sqn that carrried and dropped them? At the same time, 22 Wellingtons were attacking Bordeaux losing 2 so this could have been a cover for the drop

Re: SOE MISSION 10 OCT 41

Pierre Tillet has put together an excellent resource on infiltrations into France in WW2 which is worth downloading for anyone with even a slight interest in the subject

The mission you are looking at was dropped by a 138 Squadron Whitley flown by F/Lt Jackson.

Cheers
Mark

Re: SOE MISSION 10 OCT 41

Thanks Mark. Just what I was after. I believe him to be 33261 Flt Lt Ashley Duke Jackson who then was promoted the following month. He was MiD twice but killed 5-6 Jan 44 as a Wg Cdr flying with 207 Sqn prior to taking command of another Sqn. F540 doesn't say if it was a Halifax or Whitley he was flying
