Re: Combat with a Liberator 28 Oct 43

Hi Chris

The aircraft was Liberator "F" flown by 1Lt Walter S. McDonnell (1st A/S Squadron/480th A/S Group USAAF) on convoy coverage from Port Lyautey on 28 October 1943. They sighted a Fw 200 at 1100A in position 39°20'N/19°35W, but were unable to engage it as the enemy aircraft sought cloud cover and apparently abandoned making an attack on the convoy.
