A question about the last of these losses. Since the partisan group on Seschinskaya airfield began to place magnetic mines on German aircraft around this time, is it possible that Major Lorenz's crew was lost to such a mine? Of course, a crash near the airfield could have been caused by any number of reasons, and the hypothesis can be rejected if the infromation in Doug and Larry's database is true. They wrote the following: "16.06.43 Maj., in Gruppenstab II./KG 55, MIA – in He 111 H overdue on a ferry flight to Seshchinskaya on the central sector of the Eastern Front."
