The Russian-language document reads, in part:
Kuliev Nury Karievich. Guards Starshiy Leytenant. Commander of the 3rd Battery of the 342nd separate PVO (air defence) regiment. Recommended for the award of the medal "for achievements in combat" (За боевые заслуги) - commonly rendered in English as "Medal for Battle Merit". Born in 1919, of Turkmen nationality. Candidate member of the VKP(b) (that is the All-Union Communist Party (Bolshevik)) Participant in the Great Patriotic War from IX-41 - VII-42 Western Front (Западный фронт), from 12.8.42 Stalingrad front (Сталинградский фронт). Did not suffer from wounds or shell-shock. In the Red Army from 1939. The document is dated 6 October 1942. Last edited by Paul Thompson; 4th February 2017 at 11:33.
