My anual cry in the wilderness (30 JD).

Hi,
With all the Wilde Sau expertice we have on this forum, I am mildly surprised that we have been unable to pin-point the location of the GefStd of 30 JD in Berlin. Can anyone possibly help.

Re: My anual cry in the wilderness (30 JD).

Hi,
I am slightly surprised. If I were to ask the W.Nr of a specific Fw 190 from 1/JG 300 on 2 JAN 1944 I would probably get a correct response in 24 hours. After 143 views there is not a single response to this question. Is it really true that the authors, which have written so many excellent books on the Wilde Sau and have interviewed former aircrew, never came across the name/radio callsign or a reference to the Jagddivision that commanded them?

HI

I checked the book of H. Hermann in original called Bewegtes leben, 1993 Uni. Verl. Muenchen and found out that he mentions only once location of 30.JD after it has been established as somewhere in Berlinclose to Olympische stadion. Later he mentions that in March 1944 HQ of 30.JD moved from Elsgrund....maybe it is part of Berlin he did not mention in precious snetence, or it wa sthe second ? subsequent location of 30.JD HQ.
maybe this helps...

Peter

Hi Peter,
It helps a lot indeed. If the first location is right it could indicared a co-location with Lw.Bef. Mitte, please see:
http://www.gyges.dk/Gefechtsstand%20...te%20reich.htm
In the spring of 1944 Lw.Bef Mitte had been renamed Lft.Reich and they moved their Gef.Std. It would be logical for 30 JD to do the same, and locate in a seperate facility.
And as you can see here.
http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&q=...3%B8gning&meta=
Elsgrund was a know Lw facility, I think we are on to something, thank you very much.
