That is a 109E in the picture not an FW-190. Both the rumpfwaffen and the flugelwaffen on the FW-190F series fired through the propeller.

The FW-190 has a different calibrated rotating disk. I guess I can dig out and scan a picture for you guys. The procedure is described in Teil 8A of the Flugzeug Handbuch.

Now for some odd reason (probably subcontractors) Haube 9-12067.30 does come both with and without a hole. If you were the unlucky crewchief to have one without, then yes, you’re taking the prop spinner off to synchronize the guns.
