Hello,
Yes I did happen to see that particular P-38 fin that went up for auction and researched it as much as possible. I had hopes that this may have been off a 429th FS kite, but all my records indicate otherwise. I show no record of a 474th FG P-38 with a serial number even close to the one on the fin. The other number also remains a complete mystery to me as well.
