Re: German losses May 10,1940 Belgium
Continuing from the previous post, I have the following additions, mostly from "Mei 1940 boven Belgie", "12 days in May" and "Bataille Aerienne and Rupture sur la Meuse":
1. Hückelmann Adolf , StabsFeldw., ° April 30,1909; 67474-09 8 KG54 He-111P. Huckelmann and his crew were shot down on 10.05.40 near Courtrai due to enemy fighters. The crew was as follows: FF Hptmn Fritz Stadelmeyer - wounded (also Staffelkapitan) BO Oblt. Felix Kriegskotte - taken prisoner BF Stfw. Adolf Huckelmann - killed BM Fw. Oskar Wolf - wounded Hückelmann Adolf, ..., °...?, 3 KG54 He-111P B3 + ?. B3+?S 2. Hinze Alfred,Feldw.,WoP, °Dec.12,1913 Schnatow; 65116-22 7/KG53 He-111H A1 3. Leonhardt Emil, U/off, °June 26,1912,Emmendingen;62691-? 3KG27 He-111P 1G+ ?L. 3 members of this crew are burried in Antoing: Uffz(?) Schoenherr, Uffz Werner Stramm, Uffz Emil Leonhardt. 4. Kisker Manfred,U/Off Obs.,° May 10,1917 Bremen; 62674-51 8/K He-111P 1G + L. He-111 1G+DL of 3/KG27 was shot down at Ingelmunster by Moranes of GC II/3. 3 crew members PoW: Uffz Otto Wehmeyer (pilot), Uffz Arthur Vougt (navigator), Uffz Otto Mihita (engineer) The gunner Kisker (in some sources Wiskes) jumped by parachute. Apparently killed. 5. Flehmer Gerhard,O/Gefr.Funk.,°March 1, 1919,Oberhof-Randow;67474-36 8/Stab JG54 He-111P B3 + ?5. One of the 6 He-111s of 8/KG54 shot down around 18.30 by Hurricanes of 85 and 87 Sqn, and Moranes of GC II/1. This crew: Oblt Volprecht Riedesel, Freiherr zu Eisenbach (pilot, PoW), Ogfr Gerhard Flehmer (Wop, already killed in flight) Fw Werner Joest (Obs, PoW) Uffz Eduard Kreiss (BM, PoW). ( 6. Frank, Lt.Flg,°...., ...He-111. Not exactly the same name, but I have a He-111 of 7/KG53 that crashed around 06.00 in Ell, Luxembourg, after being hit by Hawks of GC I/4 after an attack on the Reims area. Crew: Lt Franke (pilot, PoW), Fl Stab-Ing Emil Issel (obs, jumped over France and was killed) Uffz Willy Wolf (BM, jumped over France, PoW) Uffz Engelmann (bomber, PoW) and an unknown gunner. I would not be surprised if Hinze under 2. above was this gunner. 7. Dörwald Otto-Friedrich, Lt,...,...;I/LG1 He-111H. Dorwald and crew shot down on 10.05.40 while flying a recon mission, lost to fighters near Meux. Crew consisted of the following; FF Lt. Otto Dorwald - prisoner BO Gefr. Werner Hinrichs - prisoner BM Uffz. Alfred Muller - killed BS Ofw. Paul Fehlinger - killed L1+AB 8. Hoover H,...,...,; 2KG27 He-111; crashed bij Courtrai (Kortrijk),Belgium. Lt Hans-Wilhelm Hover of Stab II/KG27 and 3 others of his crew PoW. 9. Hartmann Werner, Fldwl-Pilot, °...,...; 3LG1 He-111. Hartmann and crew shot down on 10.05.40 due to enemy fighters near Lille. Crew was as follows; FF Fw. Werner Hartmann - prisoner BO Fw. Wilhelm Franz - prisoner BF Gefr. Max Buhler - prisoner BS Uffz. Hans Saas - killed L1+EL 10. Vogel Alfred, U/Off.-Pilot, °....,...; 3KG54 He-111. Vogel and crew shot down by enemy fighters near Courtrai on 10.05.40.Crew was as follows; FF Uffz. Alfred Vogel - taken prisoner BO Uffz. Paul Hentschel - wounded BF Uffz. Willi Pomorin - taken prisoner BM Ogefr. Emil Luis - killed B3+?S This machine of 8./KG54 crash landed near Sluis, just across the belgian-dutch border. |
