Re: B-17E "Sea Breeze" - N. Africa 1942- what serial?
Hello,
1st B17's lost in North Africa were - RAF aircraft. AN529, "X" of 90 Sqdn on 8th November 1941. and AN521, "K" of 220 Sqdn on 10th January 1942. From the book on the 7th Bomber Group that is on line( in part ) which says 9 survivors were sent to the ME in July 42, has the following - I do not know if they are the ones but only certain pages are available. Vinson - 41-2506. Blankenhorn - unknown. Bowden - 41-2477* Carmack - 41-2535. Holst - 41-2465*. Fountain - 41-2499. Keenan - 41-2475. Long - 41-2457. Rogers - 41-2491 There is also referee too - Tate - 41-9016. Fennel - 41-9029. 41-2602. 41-2411 - "Old Miss II".
