Extracted from the Kingston-Selinger book about the Wekustas : "Difficult weather conditions over the Carpathian Mountains often impaired flying in the region and, on 20 July (1944), caused the loss of an He 111H-6 that crashed on the slopes of Virful Omul (2,505 m/8,219 ft) south of Brasov (Kronstadt) in an attempt to cross the Transylvanian Alps through the Predeal Pass. The crew, including the Met observer, Wd.Ass. Rudolf Sanger, did not survive..." Hope this helps Pierre |
