Re: March 31, 1945 416 Squadron "blue on blue"
The 416 Sqn ORB states the following, "Squadron patrolled RHEINE/HENGELO/BORCULA/ENSCHEDE area. F/O S A R Round shot down by single Mustang bearing Silver American Markings - area Ahaus 11:22 hrs. Mustang flying SW 7000-8000ft Mustang attacked by Spitfire and strikes seen on starboard wing. One pilot seen to bale out - not known whether Mullens or Round. Weather 10/10ths layers 1000 to 6000ft."
Therefore the time, place and height do not match the US combat report noted above. Looks like the Spitfires fired back Regards Martin
