Re: Loss of B17F #42-30379 Jan '44, 16th Sq?

I can send you the 12 page MACR if you PM me an e-mail address. The MACR does not say much but it does have a map showing the planned route to be flown. It left Tunis and flew to a location off the coast of Italy a little north of Naples. It was then to fly off shore up the coast until it reached a point about even with northern end of Corsica. From there a straight return to Tunis. The course was roughly a large triangle. There were 13 men on the plane, four of them listed as observers. This was a "ferret" aircraft according to this link: https://www.thefreelibrary.com/Ferre...t.-a0438130091

trying to locate German radar installations. It appears from reading the MACR that after take off nothing was heard or seen of the plane. There were some search efforts made but nothing turned up.

If on this page: http://www.usaafdata.com/?q=search

you enter 42-30379
in the blank box under the Details Contains lines, you should get the crew list.
