Re: S/Sgt. Vernon E. Timman, - 18029120

Hello UDF 00,

Thank you for the answer and link, which I have not to my memory seen before.

The reason for the question was that I have been a little puzzled as to why this 43-38151 ( Timman ) loss 3rd October 1944, MACR 9354 had no mention in 8&9 AAF Losses vol 5, except in relation to 43-38066.

MACR 9355 ( Bailey ) is on the 7th, page 37, but no mention of the Van Fleet crew - first 10 pages?

But the Van Fleet crew were mentioned on the 3rd October in relation to a/c 43-38066, page 552.

It noted that 43-38066 was in collision with 43-38108 on the 14th October (MACR's 9474 & 9475 respectively) pilots Nichols & Gustafson.
These are noted under that date in the book, page 59.

Of interest all three a/c were of the 305BG/365BS.

The only difference in the names of the Van Fleet crew is that Nanneman is spelt Hanneman ? So perhaps I got his name wrong ? But it has Nanneman in American air museum.com, born Pedrichtown New Jersey.
I could only find this -
https://www.fold3.com/image/619139744?terms=Nanneman

There are some Hanneman's listed but not same christian names or Group.

So was the Van Fleet a/c 43-38066, OR 43-38151( as given in fold3) ?

Alex
