Re: Minensuchsgruppe ?

Dmitriy,

You may want to get your hands on this book by Heinz Nowarra, it deals specifically with Minensuchgruppe 1 "Mausi".

Nowarra, H. "Minensuchgruppe Mausi" , Flugzeug Publikations Gmbh, 1995

As for decorations for Minensuchgruppe they received the same badges/awards given to all Luftwaffe air crews, their spange (clasp) being the recon clasp. One notable exception is that the Minensuchgruppe air crew were also eligible for the Minesweeper badge issued by the Kriegsmarine for their obvious task of sweeping mines. I have a group to a Luftwaffe Observer (Beobachter) who was awarded the Observer badge and later while serving with Minensuchgruppe 1 the minesweeper badge.

Also as a follow up to Adams suggestion, he was giving you the lead in to that website. You need to click on "Air Units" and then "Maritime Units" to find more info. on those particular units.

Regards

Jeremy

Re: Minensuchsgruppe ?

Intercepted German messages suggest that small detachments of MSGruppe 1's aircraft were employed wherever they might be needed, usually for the duration of the job to be done. I've seen mentions of operations over the Gulf of Venice, the German North Sea Coast and along stretches of the Danube (which the RAF's 205 Group spent quite a lot of time mining to disrupt river taffic.).
