No, '267' and '41-2937' DO belong to each other as '267 'is the end part (last 3 digits) of Douglas C/n: 5267 painted on the nose, still in the Santa Monica, Calif. aircraft factory and 12937 on the tail is the corresponding Army A. F. Serial Number (41-2937) for it. There is a strict link between the white Douglas nose numbers and the Army tail No.s. for the Bostons that you can calculate easily based on production chart. So the big, 3 digit long white nose numbers on the A-20B Bostons were the last 3 digits of the 4 digit Douglas Construction numbers. Not sure about the small 46-78. Cheers, Gabor |
