My mother was a foreign forced laborer in Germany for the duration of the war. Her country had ceased to exist. Young people were rounded up and put on train cars. There was a "supervisor" in each car. All she was told was that upon entering Germany, she would throw out her one allowed piece of luggage at a certain point, then she was told how and when to jump. The train would not stop, it would only slow down.
