From the War Diary, III./KG 76: … Shallow dive attack on the city of Liege … Defences: Strong medium flak was observed coming from the ground. Thunderbolts [sic] operated in 4-6 aircraft patrols in the target area. On one occasion an unsuccessful [my emphasis] gun attack was observed … Losses: Lieutenant Frank in F1+DT crash-landed near Teuge in Holland. Pilot uninjured. Hi Nick, According to the War Diary, the take-off times of 10:14 -10:25 hrs. and landing 11:22 -11:48 hrs are those of the morning of 24 Dec. 44.
