It's a quote from the ORB, but at a guess I think it means due to the layout of the valley whilst flying in line abreast, only four of the six aircraft were actually able to strafe the airfield, with the remaining two being prevented from firing due to a fear of hitting the other Hurricane's.

MT is an abreviation of 'Motor Transport' which would generally mean, cars, lorries or a combination of both.
