in 1942 the 4./JG 54 was part of the II./JG 54.

Staffelkapitäne 4./JG 54
Oblt, later Hptm Hans Philipp 22.06.41 – 17.02.42 (> Gruppenkommandeur I./JG 54)
Oblt Gerhard Wengel 17.02.42 – 30.04.42
Hptm Heinrich Jung 01.05.42 – 22.02.43 (> Gruppenkommandeur II./JG 54).
