Nick,

Thanks for your input. All the other photos of this seller's batch sale being definitely taken at München-Oberwiesenfeld, there is a fair chance this Ju 87 D was also taken there.

Cheers

Useless input as it turns out! You're quite right Marc, I put the image through Photoshop and the unit code is D3 = NSGr. 2 (they used a white unit code, rather than the usual black). The last location I have for NSGr. 2 is "Brunnenthal" on 25 April 1945 with 26 (12) aircraft.

Brunnethal is in Austria and isn't on the indispensable DeZeng/Stankey list, so I think it was probably Brunnthal south of Munich.

P.S. Interesting camouflage too, a pattern of large blotches by the look of it.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

I believe I have seen the large tower in post # 2401 before. Does that help to confirm the location?

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Another view of that G-6/R6 at Oberwiesenfeld ...
Expired auction.
Hence the 3/4 front view image is clearly not this machine.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

The Ju 87 discussed earlier is coded D3+DL, so from 3./NSGr.2, and yes, it was also found at Oberwiesenfeld

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

And this one also, which came up in 2007 (according to the date I saved it). You can just make out the vertical part of the L, I think.

There was an earlier D3+DL, lost on 7 October 1944 (Ju 87 D-5, W.Nr. 131584) but that one was 98% damaged.
