FWIW:
Shores' Dust Clouds in the Middle East mentions a combat off the coast of Syria on 8 June 1941 between 803 Squadron Fulmars and GC III/6 D.520s. Lt. Martin was shot down (he bailed out successfully and became a POW), Sous-Lt. Brondel reported he'd been downed by British aircraft (which he misidentified as Hurricanes). Credit for the victory was given by the British to Royal Navy AA fire however... Sorry for the sparse details, unfortunately that's all I know of the incident.
