Thank you John Beaman, Dennis Peschier, and mhuxt for your very prompt replies to my question. There were 15 Halifaxes and one Lancaster lost on the operation against Trappes on the night of 2/3 June 1944. I therefore believe that the information that Dennis provided has given me the name and unit of the nightfighter that shot down my uncle's Lancaster as follows:
03.06.44 Ltn. Frithjof Fensch 4./NJG 4 Lancaster £ BE-1/BE-2: 3.700 m. [S.W. Paris] 00.55 Film C. 2027/II Anerk: Nr.8 There were several reports of the crash on my uncle's personnel file with conflicting times of the loss, so I put both times on my query. The map and geographical information provided by mhuxt was also very helpful. Norma O'Toole in British Columbia, Canada
