Re: Photos 8-29

The Morane actually appears to be a Fw 190 S. The Do 215s appear to be Do 17Zs, W.Nr. for one ?4182?

Best regards,

Artie Bob

Photo 1500277544944 is Stirling N3705 of 7 Sqdn. The a/c made an emergency landing near Loevestein (Neth) on August 16, 1942 at 06.58hrs.
After repair the a/c was flown to Gilze-Rijen on September 5th. After further repair and tests it left Gilze-Rijen on September 18th.
There are many photos of this a/c in circulation.

Hi All

This is not a shot of Galland!
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=230023645728

As far as I can judge it is Werner Mölders and also visible is Hermann-Friedrich Joppien, both JG 51. The year must also be phony since by 1942 Mölders was dead. Possibly Heinz Bär is on the left, too fuzzy picture to be sure.

The same photo was sold recently on eBay.com. Most probably, the German seller bought it, and now is reselling it for profit.

Myself I bought a large size repro negative of this remarkable photo.

That is most probably a unique Slovak machine.

Re: Photos 8-29

In the first photo under "Portraits" the officer on the left looks like Oberst Gordon M. Gollob who was Kommandeur of JG77 in Russia from May to September 1942. The note on the reverse side of the photo seems to confirm this.
