Hi Stig,
First the easy bit D.6. A manufacturer's designation. I take it you have a copy of Die-Deutschen-Militarflugzeuge-1910-1918 by Kroschel and Stutzer, I got the id from there.Near the top of each column there's a manufacturer's designation as well as the military one. As for what the component is we're looking at no idea I'm afraid. If the number is either 638 or 658 then no LVG B.II tie in of which I'm aware. I think when we were discussing the naval Fokker D.VII thread it was apparent that the Bestellnummer could appear in a number of places. I'm not saying that that is what we're seeing though.
