Sunderland loss
Hi,
Does anyone have any details of a 230 Sqn Sunderland that was lost on 29/12/43? I think it was off Nairobi. Alex

Re: Sunderland loss
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the details. One other crew member was Flt Sgt MacDonald Alexander Keith a wop/ag. Anyone know the rest of the crew? I also have another incident involving a 230 Sqn aircraft. This occured on 30/09/42. Any ideas? Sgt James Adam, another wop/ag, was part of the crew. This time it may have occured in the Med, as he is commemorated on the Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial. Alex

Hi Alex,
All I can offer is :- Sunderland T9050 Y/230 captained by F/O. Murphy crashed on landing resulting in the deaths of three of the crew. 30 September 1942. In both cases my replies are taken from the book. No.230 Squadron Royal Air Force. Kita chari jauh - We search far. by Guy Warner. Regards Peter. |
