Re: Hptm Hans Autenrieth

In June 44 he flying on Bf110-G4
In August 44, he was shooting down with one Junker 88 G1
(i have note, but i need verify Wk 712343 )
Sector Avranches-Rennes
Damaged by DCA, the plane was shoot by one allied nightfighter, mossie ?
all the crew can use parachute near Fougères,
Hans Autenrieth and Georg Helbig are Pow by US, but after hans never can see Georg, evaded or dead during transport by sea ...
L'Uffz Adam was certainly killed quick by french's people, very nervous on ground...

Re: Hptm Hans Autenrieth

According to Night Airwar and the 'K' report the crew baled out and were captured by Partisans . While Uffz, Georg Helbig was handed over to a POW cage near Cherbourg, Hpt. Autenrieth was after a few days taken into a woods where it looked like he was going to be shot. However a U.S unit turned up and he was handed to them, both Autenrieth and Helbig were sent to the U.K
As regards the third crewman Fw. Rudolf Adam it is believed he was killed by the Partisans and I think is still missing.

Re: Hptm Hans Autenrieth

Hello all,
There is a possibility that Hptm. Autenrieth shot down the Halifax LK875 from 158 Sqn and crashed in Normandy this night of 2/3 june 1944.

Or any other idea about the pilot who shot down this bomber aircraft?

Well those infos about Autenrieth are very welcome.

Loic

Re: Hptm Hans Autenrieth

Yes,
Sources are diverses, for 4-motors planes, not especially for Halifax ...
This night we can found 17 claims by LW, 11 for NJG 4 !
For the LK 875 we know (bomber Command) is crashed near Criqueboeuf-la Campagne (Eure) or Equetot (Air Britain) ..
We have allways the same problem with claims
For Bomber Command crash hour was 22H24...
The claims for Autenrieth is :
03.06.44 Hptm. Hans Autenrieth Stab II./NJG 4 4-mot Flzg BD 1 1.800m Trappes 01.00 2027/II Anerk Nr.9
03.06.44 Hptm. Hans Autenrieth Stab II./NJG 4 4-mot Flzg UB 6 2.300m Le Neubourg 01.23 2027/II Anerk Nr.10
I have not all the times dats for the 9 others diverses claims from NJG4,
and for the 6 others claims from other units ...
Good luck, it's not easy ...
Bsrg, Dan

Re: Hptm Hans Autenrieth

Hello,

There is a few years a person of the area of Fougères gave me a testimony on the crash landing of a German aircraft bomber on the territory of Landivy. The North-East of Fougères on August 4, 1944. Members of the crew having evacuated their aircraft above Louvigné of the Désert, the North-East of Fougères.
August 5 a body of an aviator was found in a field, the nonopen parachute.
The witness brought this precision to me, the aviator had with him a satchel containing of papers.

Research on the loss of this bomber and the body of this aviator brought me to the following conclusion. Loss of the 88 G1 (WNr. 712343) Pilot Hptm Hans Autenrieth.
When with the body of the aviator found on August 5 44, it acts certainly of Uffz. Rudolf, Adam. Here precise details following my mail of Wast in Berlin. Rudolf Adam, Feldwebel, geboren am 21.07.1919. Truppenteil : 6. Staffel NJG 4. Gilt seit dem 04.08.1944 auf dem Feindflug als vermisst.

Re: Hptm Hans Autenrieth

Hi Daniel
Information really interresting, and doubtless the maid,
Hans Autenrieth himself supposed that Rudi Adam would have been killed by the same people who maltreated it, but it is only one assumption...
Your explanation based on testimony is doubtless the maid.
You certainly right .
If you has other details, I am absolutely interesting by.
Bien amicalement, dan

Re: Hptm Hans Autenrieth

Putting apart this particular event, it's amazing as a story/history completly change, nd this just based on a second-hand testimony,

Re: Hptm Hans Autenrieth

If a body was found and with papers, surely the Allies would have been informed (and this mentioned in the K Reports) and the body, which was found away from the heavy fighting on the ground, buried? Proof has to be absolute and in this case, it is not
