Re: Photos USAAS Aircraft

Hello,

Currently on ebay a photo of a Dorand AR-1 of the USAAS at:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/WW1-U-S-Pho...oAAOSw5e5cXvdk

It looks like No.244 but impossible to be certain that its not 244*

Clint

Clint

I think we can be pretty certain it is No 244
Casari identifies No 244 as delivered, but not any No 244x.

Admittedly there are many non identified AR.2 delivered to the Yanks but as far as I can see this is an AR.1 (rhino exhaust) and their serial numbers did not go that far. Also if you look at the digits 244 they are in balance (centered) beneath the AR above.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photos USAAS Aircraft

Hi Stig,

Sound reasoning. I concur. to be honest I was just being (too?) cautious.

While its not an area I feel any competence to comment doesn't http://albindenis.free.fr/Site_escad...ete_Dorand.htm indicate 244* was although not an option for the photo shown at least a viable number?

Regards,

Clint
