Re: Operation Tidal Wave: The Bloodiest Air Battle in the History of War

Larry,

As someone who watches the nonfiction book industry, I can say with certainty that experts remain experts regardless of any new books that are soon to be out or that may appear in the future. My own interests are always toward the most definitive and the best researched. It did pain me to watch poor television programming that gave wrong and misleading impressions. But excellent books remain and will remain, beyond the whims of television producers.

Recently, a spate of books have been released about Italian missteps during the war. And yes, there are books by amateurs or those who are less professional who do them because they can. The internet has created, for some, this idea that important subjects can be learned in minutes.

In closing, there is no reason for alarm. There will always be one more book about this or that popular subject. However, I have built a library around the best and I would say that in terms of time and money, I would not buy anything that I thought was inferior.

Regards,
Ed
