Braham wrote (well, published) his book Scramble in 1961.
My own US paperback edition is from 1968 and called Night Fighter.

Making a guess, for the US readership, a title like Scramble would not mean a thing, while Night Fighter says exactly what the book is all about.
So, maybe simply a British (Scramble) vs a US (Night Fighter) edition?

Differences? Again a guess, US paperback editions have been known to shorten some books. The case here? No idea.
